William Jefferson Clinton won our hearts, lost them, and then won them back again. How is it that some athletes, politicians, and movie stars are able to make enormous personal/legal blunders, but then still come back to us like nothing ever happened? As long as Jason Kidd is able to go for 17 pts. and 10 assists, we don’t care if he assaulted his wife. As long as Gilbert Arenas can still drain big time threes, we’ll pay him $20M/ year and we don’t care that he pulled a gun on his teammate because of a card game. Will Anthony Weiner ever be welcomed back, a la Clinton and Spitzer? Will Plaxico Burress be embraced in the same way that we’ve embraced Michael Vick? Only time will tell. Former Valparaiso superstar, Louie Maxwell Clark III, storms back on the show with deep insights from Eliot Spitzer’s re-emergence into the public eye to his deep personal love for Ryan Reynolds.
Who is going to take James Fredette (seriously people, he’s an adult now, let’s call him by an adult name) in the draft? Are my hometown Jazz going to pull the trigger under community pressure? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Please sit back and enjoy the last podcast about meaningful sports for the foreseeable future….NBA season is over, NFL in lockout, no Tiger Woods, no World Cup, no Summer Olympics…we are now to be tortured with 18 hours per day of Peter Gammons and Baseball Tonight.
I lost a little bit of respect for D. Wade when I found this picture, but I spend enough time praising him in this podcast that it should make up for it. Lebron James being the best player in the world for weeks at a time and then showing up and playing like C.J. Miles the next, T. Pryor and the mess in Columbus, Tiger Woods hurt instead of dominating majors, Rep. Weiner, and some movie catch-up….you’re not going to want to miss a thing.
I hope Deshawn Stevenson isn’t a regular listener of the show. My own flesh and blood, Stuart B. Anderson, makes his second official appearance to talk about breathtakingly important topics: triathlons, Miguel Angel Jimenez’s ponytail, and our favorite athlete tattoos.
The summer movie season was kicked off by just the right movie…if you haven’t seen Fast Five yet, it’s time to make it happen. Full review of Fast Five, Thor, and a look at the upcoming movie scene over the next two months. Oh…and you know I couldn’t go through a full podcast without talking NBA Playoffs. Dwight Howard will be a Laker in a few short months. Count on it.
Have I seen Water for Elephants yet? No. Has today’s guest, Jake Welch, he says no….but someone that loves Pattinson as much as he does couldn’t have missed it opening night. A potpourri a topics on this week’s show: NBA Playoffs, Team USA, NFL Draft, a touch of baseball and soccer, and a few comments about our personal lives that may or may not amuse you.
Kevin Garnett is watching horror films and the torturing of small animals so he can have those crazy eyes throughout the entirety of the playoffs. Anthony Dinwoodey Morris and Mark Bevan Ericson stop in for an NBA Playoff preview. Can O.J. Mayo carry the Grizz to a title? Can Stan Van Gundy get any less physically appealing? You’ll have to listen to the show to find out. And let’s just all sit back and enjoy the next eight weeks of basketball goodness.
Ralph Macchio is a legend among legends. I’ll be making my grandkids sit down around the futuristic televisions that we have in 40 years to watch The Karate Kid with me and talk about how much it affected me as a young man. Mark “Stein” Ericson stops by the show to discuss the greatest sports movies of all time as well as some of the more pressing issues in the sports world today. Who do we think is going to win the NCAA title? Do we care that the baseball season started today? What are we going to do when the NBA Finals end? Listen to the show for heaven’s sake and you’ll find out.
Today marks an end of an era in Jazz and Nuggets basketball. Rhombusmag.com contributor, KSL Sports employee, and die-hard Nuggets fan, Jake Welch joins the show to talk about what if feels like to lose a future hall of famer. Stay faithful Jazz fans! We have great years ahead!
I really needed to get a few big topics off my chest so I went with a solo show…The Company Men, Friday Night Lights, The Bachelor, Carmelo Anthony, Tom Brady’s hair, Miami Heat, and Lance Armstrong just to name a few…Enjoy!
